Kihei Rent A Car was started by Dave and Sugar Hunkins and daughter, Marj, with a lot of hard work and family "stick-to-it-tiveness".
Here's their story.
Dave and Sugar met in Honolulu in 1957, married later that year and welcomed twin daughters in 1958.
They returned to the mainland to raise the family in the snowbelt, where the girls would receive a fine education and develop a good work ethic.
By then, there were four daughters all enrolled in college when they sold everything and moved back to Maui.

RENTAL POLICIES: Additional charges include a $5.00 per day Hawaii State road tax and 4.167% sales tax.
We do not rent to anyone under 21 years old.
We do not offer collision insurance on Jeeps.
You must have your own coverage to rent these vehicles.
All vehicles have a working radio, with no guarantee of a working CD player.
No additional discounts are available during our summer discounted rates.
Senior discounts are available during our winter rates.
We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Diners Club and JCB as payment.
We do not rent to anyone under 21 years old.
